The dental insurance benefits you may receive are established by the terms of the contract that has been purchased by your employer or you with an insurance company. You can expect the carrier (insurance company) to reimburse you for a portion of our fee. Generally, the higher the premium paid by your company, the more generous the reimbursement. This may or may not include benefits for services provided in our office.
Although we are not a party to the contractual arrangement with your insurance company, we do want to help you receive the maximum reimbursement to which you are entitled. As a convenience to you, we will process your insurance claims in order for you to receive the maximum benefit. We will also gladly provide dental x-rays and a written diagnostic report should your insurance company have any questions about the services provided.
At all times, you can be confident that we will always provide you with our best services without regard to the limitations imposed by your insurance coverage. To do otherwise would violate our contract with you — a contract we feel morally obliged to honor.
It is common for a plan to pay a percentage of what the insurance industry calls the usual, customary or prevailing fee based on an arbitrary schedule of fees. Each carrier establishes their own fees by use of a formula they will not make public and that has no relationship to the current standard or cost of your care. In our view, usual and customary is an insurance term that at best means “minimal or average care”. The care we provide is designed to be excellent rather than average. Although very few insurance companies require a pre-treatment estimate, our office will be happy to prepare one if it is important for you to understand what your financial obligation will be after the insurance benefit is paid.
